FIELD: metallurgical production, namely production of rolled bars from continuously cast billets. SUBSTANCE: continuously cast billet is rolled in one of rolling passes at normalized reduction values of its cross section by width in such a way that reduction of axial zone of rolled piece exceeds that of terminal zone according to predetermined relation. In next passes including prefinal and final ones rolling is realized with constant reduction of rolled piece cross section by width in rolling direction. Such rolling mode provides lowered central porosity, decreased propagation of surface defects. EFFECT: high quality of rolled bars, lowered cost of production process, less loss of yield. 2 cl, 3 dwg, 2 tbl
