FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: method involves pyrolysis of wood of solid tropical strains. Pyrolysis is combined with solid residue activation. Noncompletely activated coal formed is subjected for small milling and additional activation of obtained noncompletely activated coal is carried out by steam. Terminating grinding the ready activated coal after additional activation is carried out. The combined pyrolysis, activation and grinding, additional activation and grinding are carried out at electrogrounding the processed mass initiated by potential at voltage 0.1-50 V. Gazvarine is used as a source of wood of solid tropical strains. Method ensures to obtain different sorts of activated coal at low ash content.
