FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: retinyltriphenylphosphonium salts are intermediates in production of beta-carotene and other carotinoids and may be applied in chemical-pharmaceutical industry. Preparation of salts consists in adding sulfuric or para-toluenesulfonic acid to triphenylphosphine at room temperature followed by adding vitamin A acetate and carrying out condensation reaction at 25-50 C. As organic solvent, C1-C4-alcohols, ethers or chlorine-containing solvents or their mixtures can be employed. EFFECT: simplified procedure due to avoiding necessity of isolating product from reaction mixture. 4 cl, 2 tbl, 26 ex
