FIELD: proximity analysis of content of impurities in metals and alloys during melting. SUBSTANCE: device has cold 1 and hot 2 electrodes. Heating element 13 mounted on electrode 2 is connected to supply bus through circuit controlling energy supply that is built by type of valve regulator of level of transmitted energy. Conductors 3.1, 3.2 and 4 are interconnected as differential thermocouple which package is put on electrodes and their free ends are connected through amplifier 5, analog-to-digital converter 7 to input DIVISOR of divider 10. Inputs of amplifier 6 are connected to electrode 1 and to lead of thermocouple formed by conductor 3.2. Output of amplifier 6 is connected through analog-to-digital converter 8 to input DIVIDENT of divider 10. When sample 20 is brought to contact with electrodes 1, 2 signals carrying information on thermoelectromotive force generated by sample 20 - E20 and on thermoelectromotive force formed by differential thermocouple E obtained across output of divider is multiplied for expression of result in per cents by coefficient K2 in multiplier 10 and after conversion in nonlinear converter 11 displays dependence
. Content of carbon c is brought to screen of indicator 12. Control value of thermoelectromotive force formed by circuit of reference conductor 18 is fixed on screen of indicator in intervals between measurements as signal of stability of graduation characteristic of aid and temperature condition that is kept by regulator 15 at specified level of temperature difference E
