FIELD: fiber-optical information transmission systems. SUBSTANCE: method involves application of current-conducting layer on side surface of piece of optical fiber 2, generation of electric explosion of current-conducting layer in order to achieve fault in core of optical fiber, measuring of information signal dissipated on fault. Electric explosion is provided by means of connection of plate of capacitor 3, which is charged from unit 4, through switch 5 to piece 1 using electric wires. When switch 4 is closed, capacitor is discharged through metal coating of piece 1. Fault in optical fiber core is provided by converging shock wave generated by electric explosion. Some amount of information signal dissipated on fault is detected by photodetector which is mounted about piece of light guide, where electric explosion happened. This results in increased level of signal which is tapped through side surface of optical wire from core. This also results in decreased losses in other light guide layers due tapping of power from core of fiber-optical communication line. EFFECT: increased efficiency of tapping. 1 dwg
