FIELD: fiber-optical systems for transmission of confidential information. SUBSTANCE: method involves generation of information and test optical signals with clipped power, sending them into fiber-optical communication line, conversion of mode structure of beam at input of optical line by means of attenuation of power which is transmitted in higher-order modes. Then signals are received, test signal is detected and compared to reference signal. Then information transmission control signal is generated. EFFECT: increased reliability of protection. 5 dwg
