FIELD: hand-held percussion tool. SUBSTANCE: hammer has striking and shank parts, each provided with striking surfaces. Striking surfaces of striking or shank part, or striking surfaces of both parts are provided with slots formed as channels or recesses having width and height of 0.1-1 mm. According to other version, hammer has striking part and shank part with narrow end. Striking surface of shank part is provided with at least one slot or groove having width and height of 0.1-1 mm, or funnels having diameter and height of 0.1-1 mm. Such construction of hammer used in finishing works prevents hammer from slipping during striking of nail, pins and other objects. Hammer may be employed as part of percussion tool for final driving of nail into required surface.
