FIELD: oxidation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: catalyst contains manganese compounds and aluminum oxide, and active catalyst component contains from 40 to 100 wt % (on elementary manganese basis) of tetragonal α-Mn3O4 and tetragonal γ-Mn2O3 at γ-Mn2O3/α-Mn2O4 ratio 1-2. On the whole, catalyst is composed of 4.8-8.5 wt % of manganese compounds (on elementary manganese basis), 1.9-8.5 wt % of γ-Mn2O3 and α-Mn3O4, and alumina to 100%. Catalyst is prepared as follows: catalyst charge is formed on the basis of aluminum hydroxide and manganese(IV) oxide and also includes 20 to 70% alumina and/or alumino-manganese oxide filler with particle size of more than 80% of it below 63 mcm. Charge is plasticized by nitric acid in quantity from 2 to 7%, then molded, dried, and calcined at 930-970 C in an oxidative medium.
