AUTOMOBILE FUEL SYSTEM ADSORBER Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: transport engineering; trapping of fuel vapors from fuel tank and carburetor float chamber. SUBSTANCE: adsorber has cylindrical housing accommodating gasoline-air mixture inlet and outlet branch pipes on its cover, a layer of adsorbing material placed inside housing coaxially with the latter, and reservoir in bottom of housing for collecting fuel liquid phase. Adsorbing material is essentially a hollow cylindrical block consisting of activated charcoal and polymeric binder and limited at end faces by polymeric material rings. Ratio of diameter of housing, inner and outer diameters of blocks is (5.5-11):(5-10):1. Ratio of height of block and height of reservoir is (7-8):1, and ratio of diameter of reservoir and diameter of housing is 1:(1.6-2.0). Reservoir is filled with layers of elastic sorbent. EFFECT: increased efficiency and service life of adsorber under extreme load.
