CERAMIC BRICK, STONE, AND METHOD OF FABRICATING CERAMIC BRICK AND STONE Russian patent published in 1998 - IPC

FIELD: ceramics. SUBSTANCE: ceramic brick and stone are fabricated from mix containing adobe or clay (basic material), burning away pore-forming components, and mineral fillers. Burning away components are coal fines and/or sawdust fractions, 0.2-3.5 mm (2-10 vol % summarily) and polystyrene foam fractions, 1.0-4.5 mm (10- 35 vol %); and mineral filler is sand with fineness modulus, from 0.3 to 2.2 (3-20 vol %). When density of crock is up to 800 kg/cu. m, ceramic brick and stone are made hollowless, and, when crock density ranges from 800 to 1200 kg/cu.m, with hollows, whose total volume does not exceed 40%. Method of fabrication includes separately preparing mix components, grinding, screening, dispensing, combining them and common processing, ageing, drying or additional dampening to required molding moisture not exceeding 20%, molding products of desired shape, drying, and firing.
