FIELD: steelmaking. SUBSTANCE: process consists of preliminary three- dimensional heating of steel to 75-90 C and subsequent heating of its surface layer by laser emission to austenite-state temperature. EFFECT: eliminated probability of crack formation in carbon-steel products, prevented malformation of surface layer of metal, and achieved required level of steel hardness. 1 tbl
