FIELD: electric engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves comparing oscillation levels received by aerial under various forms of directional patterns. A number n>1 of directional patterns are produced having coinciding maximum positions. n oscillations are built and decisions are made concerning detecting signal from bearing direction if at least one of them exceeds threshold so that difference in their levels is not higher than admissible limits. The value of reception direction deviation from bearing is determined when needed by comparing to calculated results corresponding to deviation value. Besides, n forms of directional patterns are producible by using two amplitude distribution functions having the form of 1 ≠ f(x) and 1-f(x) in exposed mode, to determine power sums by summing up two produced fields with various weights. The n sums are also sequentially obtainable by changing summing weights in the course of receiving oscillation with frequency exceeding the signal spectral width position. Method for forming aerial directional pattern involves applying two field distribution functions usable as amplitude distribution functions of 1 ≠ f(x) and 1-f(x) and aerial directional pattern is built by summing energies of two created fields and its shape is controlled by varying summing weight. External interference being encountered, its level is reduced by changing weighting method. EFFECT: excluded false detection of objects; controllable shape of aerial directional pattern. 5 cl, 6 dwg
