FIELD: procession of finned tube heat exchangers of different type metals before sending them to merchant metal scrap. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of reducing finned tubes of heat exchanger by rolling at passing them through doubled pair of centering rollers until closing fins one with another; undercutting fins symmetrically along tube of heat exchanger along line tangential relative to tube generatrix in contact zone of fins and tube and simultaneously separating fins from tube. Cut planes formed by means of cutters with cone sharpening are mutually spaced by distance no less than outer diameter of tube. Apparatus includes roller pair including feed and reduction rollers and another roller pair arranged behind the first one and including other feed rollers and cone sharpened disc cutters. EFFECT: rapid and effective parting of tubular heat exchangers for sending them to merchant metal scrap. 4 cl, 3 dwg
