FIELD: removal of water and impurities from liquid dielectric media, hydrocarbon fuels and oils with the aid of strong electric fields. SUBSTANCE: at electrical cleaning of liquid dielectric media, for instance, hydrocarbon fuels and oils, including dehydration of medium to be cleaned by passing it through units of electrostatic separator with a periodic system of passive and active electrodes receiving high voltage, before dehydration of mixture preliminary filtration of big metallic impurities is performed by passing the medium to be cleaned through a system of magnetic and mechanical filters, and the process of dehydration is accomplished by creation of an auxiliary induced electric field between separate series-connected units of electrostatic separator to electrode systems; the operating voltage of units is linearly increased from the input unit to the output one; operating voltage at the output unit is adjusted proportionally to the potential of induced electric field at passive electrodes of the same unit; after that electrostatic precipitation of the mixture is performed by passing it through a system of electrostatic precipitators, accomplishing automatic recovery of accumulating filter as its mud cells are filled. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of cleaning of liquid dielectric media. 4 cl, 5 dwg
