FIELD: artificial diamonds. SUBSTANCE: graphite and metal-containing specimen is subjected to pulse action at pressure and heating provided by blast wave from detonation of external charge of an explosive substance. Parameters of charge of explosive substance are selected from condition of providing pressure and temperature of blast wave in the specimen sufficient to induce graphite-diamond phase transition. Specimen is made from graphite fibers several mcm in diameter and several mm long incorporated into metal matrix. The latter is selected from the group of metals characterizing by following physicochemical properties: density superior to that of graphite; temperature of heating under blast wave loading inferior to graphite-diamond phase transition temperature; and inertness to carbon. Diamond fibers formed under dynamic loading are up to several tens of mcm in diameter and up to several mm long. Yield of diamond is about 80%, and consumption of explosive substance up to 1 kg. EFFECT: optimized procedure parameters.
