FIELD: artificial diamonds production. SUBSTANCE: invention is aimed at industrially producing 1-mcm diamond powder with crystalline characteristics of grains approximately meeting those of natural diamond and being applicable in instrumentation engineering, electrical technics, and jewelry. Weighed amount of explosive is loaded into explosion chamber cavity, whereupon explosion is initiated and portion of carbon-containing material is charged into matrix pocket. Amount of explosive is calculated taking into account working velocity range of metal hammer corresponding pressure amplitude range in the region of diamond stability and indications of light sensor recording intense nonequilibrium emission at diamond luminescence spectral line. EFFECT: increased yield (to 70-80%) of diamond particles larger than 1 mcm and simplified procedure. 2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
