FIELD: production of composite materials, namely manufacture of bimetallic steel-copper wire. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of wrapping copper envelope around steel core and welding edges of copper envelope; heating blank until 750-800 C and rolling it in parted grooved pass; directly before rolling step cooling surface of copper envelope until 400-200 C at rate exceeding heat transfer rate of steel core. Envelope is cooled by cold air or air-water mixture mainly in parting zone of round pass. EFFECT: enhanced quality of joining materials of bimetallic wire. 4 cl, 2 dwg
