FIELD: manufacture of bimetallic, particularly steel-copper wire. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of making copper envelope of copper wire subjected to deformation between rolling rolls in order to form U-shaped profile; placing steel wire core onto bottom of U-shaped copper wire; then bending edges of copper envelope and welding them together; heating blank and rolling it for making non-detachable joint of two metals. EFFECT: simplified process of making bimetallic wire having stable high qualities along its whole length and in cross section. 6 dwg
