FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: prior and/or in the course of the program of wringing out of clothes, drum of washing machine is given rotary motion at stage of weight measurement of clothes in three phases. The first phase is characterized by slow increasing number of revolution up to some final value nl which is higher than number of revolutions at which clothes adjoin the drum surface and which approaches but not reaches the resonance number of revolutions of the drive system. The second phase has constant preset number of revolutions equalling the final number of revolutions n1 of platform. In the third phase, drum disconnected from drive is decelerated to minimum number of revolutions n2 which is still enough to keep clothes ring on drum without falling off or falling off only partially. Time interval since drive disconnection up to the moment of reaching the minimum number of revolutions nl is measured and this time interval is criterion for determination of weight of clothes. Results of winging out are controlled by measuring residual moisture content. EFFECT: higher accuracy in determination. 7 cl, 1 dwg
