FIELD: clothes treating equipment. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining quantity of clothes in treating machine during speeding up phase necessary for operating drum at rotational speed required for treatment at which clothes are not retained by centrifugal force on inner surface of drum; determining torque of drum drive engine by measuring electric parameters relative to actual measured values of rotational speed; detecting phase cut off angle in the process of usage of phase control system for drive engine during drum speeding up phase and determining average geometric value of this angle which is standard of average drive engine power and may be used for calculating clothes weight on the basis of generated weight signals and clothes batch loading moment.
