FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology. SUBSTANCE: bearing and optical parts of keratoprosthesis are interconnected directly due to transition zone of interpenetrating polymeric nets of polymers and/or copolymers of optical part and biopolymers of bearing part natural tissues. Coupling of bearing and optical parts represents physical interpenetrating of their materials and/or chemical binding of bearing part proteins with polymers and copolymers of optical part. Bearing part may be made of porous protein materials obtained by processing of native natural tissues, which reduces immune response of recipient, as compared with native tissues. EFFECT: enhanced strength and biological properties of keratoprosthesis. 8 cl, 5 ex
