FIELD: railway transport; vehicles without free axles. SUBSTANCE: wheels are adjusted at small deviation around maximum of adhesion-slip dependance characteristics of wheel and rail or by increasing and newly decreasing drive/brake effort, or by increasing and decreasing acceleration to memorized rotational speed. Proposed method makes it possible to control any wheelset at maximum adhesive force and minimum slip. Improved wheel-rail contact is provided by purposeful increase of wheel slip. Simultaneously only part of wheelset wheels is adjusted to optimum adhesive force and the latter are subjected to desired adjustment of wheel slip. EFFECT: provision of constant replacement of wheelsets with increased and decreased skidding. 8 cl, 1 dwg
