FIELD: Chitosan products. SUBSTANCE: chitosonium glutamate is prepared as follows: chitosan is allowed to swell in polar medium (dimethylsulfoxide-trifluoroacetic acid), swelled chitosan is treated with acetic acid, and resulting mixture is brought into interaction with aqueous solution of glutamic acid di- or monosodium salt at room temperature and stirring followed by isolation of chitosonium glutamate. In another version of invention, swelled chitosan is diluted with water in amounts sufficient to provide initial dissolving of glutamic acid, and the latter is then added in dry form. In both cases, chitosan with molecular weight from 5000 to 2000000 and degree of deacetylation 65 to 98% is used, and all stages are carried out in strongly swelled heterogeneous system at room temperature with high velocity.
