FIELD: processing of spent electrolytes used in deposition of copper coats on articles made of zirconium and its alloys, mechanical engineering and other branches of technology. SUBSTANCE: spent electrolytes containing copper vitriol, hydrofluoric acid and zirconium are treated with compositions of sodium ( sodium fluoride sulfate or their mixture ) with weight ratio Na:Zr as 1.15-1.19 followed by curing in the course of 2 h. Derived crystals are separated with subsequent correction of obtained solution. EFFECT: increased percentage of zirconium extracted from spent electrolytes and prevention of pollution of environment. 1 tbl
