FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves treating plant fibers and directing them through breaking-scutching unit to obtain elongate flax filament; obtaining scutching wastes from which heaps are knocked out in cyclone to produce cottonized fiber; cleaning dust-laden air; directing to shaker to produce short filament; treating short filament to obtain cottonized fiber in working chamber by method based on aerobic microbiological process combined with drying process upon wetting of fiber for 72 hours and drying to 8-10% moisture content; directing fiber through breaker of breaking-scutching unit, cyclone and shaker at least 2-3 times. EFFECT: increased efficiency, improved quality of flax filament and increased ecology control. 5 dwg
