FIELD: metallurgy, shrouds of rollers of machines for continuous casting of billets and other metallurgical equipment subject to cyclic heat-cooling processes. SUBSTANCE: enhanced wear resistance of multilayer shrouding rings of rollers is achieved due to diminished crumbling out of outer active layer. To obtain specified result shrouding ring should include inner layer of iron-chromium-carbonaceous alloy, outer layer of high-chromium steel and intermediate layer in which content of chromium grows monotonically from inner layer to outer one. Thickness of outer layer amounts to 0.03-0.41 thickness of shrouding. Outer surface of billet of iron-chromium- carbonaceous alloy is prepared for welding to manufacture shrouding ring of roller and several layers are overlaid with nominal value of linear energy. In this case first layer is overlaid under increased value of linear energy as compared with nominal one and overlaying of subsequent layers is carried out with uniform decrease of linear energy from layer to layer to nominal value. Further overlaying is performed with nominal value of linear energy. EFFECT: enhanced wear resistance of shrouding rings of rollers. 4 cl, 1 dwg
