FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: nuclear reactor that has core primary charge of fuel assemblies accommodating neutron absorber, thorium, and fuel composed of mixture of plutonium isotopes in the form of fuel microelements with multilayer coating is proposed to run at full power with partial or full refueling. Use is made of fuel with at least 90% content of plutonium-239 isotope ; primary charge of reactor should have mass ratio of thorium to plutonium fuel in core between 0.01 and 0.25. Fuel assemblies may be placed in can, 0.5 to 9.5 mm thick. Fuel microelements composed of mixture of plutonium and thorium oxides are used for charging reactor core. During partial refueling upon reactor operation at full power core parts built up of top and/or bottom fuel assemblies in central radii are displaced to peripheral radii and/or fuel assembles of peripheral radii are moved to central radii of core; removed fuel assembles are replaced by new ones. EFFECT: provision for equalizing neutron flux field; increased burn-up fraction of fuel. 4 cl, 1 dwg
