FIELD: production of abrasive articles. SUBSTANCE: this relates to abrasive article and method for its production which imply application of fixing coating to materials of backing sheet. These materials can be such as fabrics with open weaving, knitted fabric, porous fabrics, unfinished paper, hermetically non-sealed fabrics, foam plastics with open or closed cells, non-woven materials, staple cloth, etc. Method for production of abrasive articles allows for application of coating to any material which is generally not possible by conventional methods witch use of this coating in production of abrasive articles. Offered technological process allows for overcoming of difficulties connected with application of coatings to woven materials with open weaving without preliminary glueing, application of thermosensitive coating, and also with application of coatings to rolled materials. Process of applying fixing coatings by means of lamination allows for using fixing coatings of various characteristics such as high-viscous based on solvents and others and/or backing sheets such as porous, brittle and others. Lamination makes it possible to avoid heating to temperature needed for melting of fixing coating to fluid condition. This is especially useful when using thermosensitive backing sheets.
