FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: absorbing element based on boron-containing materials is provided with additional gas trap made in bottom part of its can and used to receive (n, (n, γ)-)-absorber placed throughout its length and made, for example, in the form of hafnium sleeve. Free space of gas trap amounts to 2-10% of total inner volume of element. EFFECT: improved service life of absorbing elements without noticeable decrease in neutron absorption efficiency. 3 cl, 1 dwg
