FIELD: nuclear power engineering; nuclear reactor control. SUBSTANCE: control element designed for use in nuclear reactors such as water-cooled ones with square- or hexahedral-section fuel assemblies is built of two parts one being absorbing part and other, bearing part; absorbing part is made in the form of square- or hexahedral-section frame open on top and having inner and outer shells with ports; shells are joined together and provided with bottom forepart, absorbing elements being placed between shells. Bearing part is built of bottom and top crosspieces disposed on central carrying rod so that one of them is rigidly fixed on rod and other one is secured to the latter with aid of split joint; absorbing part is locked between them and relative to central carrying rod. EFFECT: facilitated manufacture, enhanced performance characteristics. 3 cl, 3 dwg
