FIELD: nuclear engineering; storage of transcurium elements and heavy curium isotopes. SUBSTANCE: starting material of target is in the form of granules some of which contain neutron-absorbing material in proportions ranging within n 0.65, where n is proportion of absorber nuclei in granule. Proportion of starting material in target is not over 10-20 mass percent. Starting curium charge is increased due to equalizing energy release during irradiation.
