FIELD: application of metal coating by chemical method to surface of nonconducting substance. SUBSTANCE: method involves application of liquid to form metal coating by chemical method on surface of nonconducting substance. It contains chitosan or its derivative prior to application of catalyst and chemical reduction to form hydrophilic film of coating on surface of nonconducting substance. This hydrophilic film binds and fixes catalytically the active metal such as palladium by chemisorption under the action of chitosan or its derivative. As a result, at the stage of chemical deposition of metal such state is preserved at which sufficient amount of active catalyst is contained on surface of nonconducting material to provide for uniform and efficient formation of metal coating on surface of this substance with strong adhesion of coating to substance.
