FIELD: missile- space engineering, in particular, installations for active action on near space by injection of plasma into ionosphere. SUBSTANCE: thermal batteries with exothermic heaters are used as a power unit, they are located coaxially to plasma accelerator on its external side. Thermal batteries serve as a thermal screen for the plasma accelerator, and together with the power rings interconnecting the thermal batteries on the end face they form the power frame that carries all the components of the plasma accelerator. The plasma accelerator is electrically connected to the output terminals of the power unit, in which the activation squib of one of the thermal batteries is connected to the control unit, which produces a command to actuate the plasma accelerator. The output terminals of this actuated thermal battery are electrically connected to the terminals of the activation squibs of the rest thermal batteries and to the terminals of the activation squib of the exothermic starting heater. The working medium storage, feed and evaporation systems are combined and made in the form of a coaxial porous cylinder filled with working medium and installed on a hollow cathode. Vapors of working medium are fed to the discharge cavity from the opposite side of the cathode and from its inner cavity through one or several holes closed with sealing plugs failing by heat supplied from the exothermic starting heater. EFFECT: independent start and functioning of installation on the ambient temperature conditions at minimum consumption of power and mass-dimensional characteristics. 2 dwg
