FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method includes connection of pneumotachometer in series with respiratory tracts and tailing the pressure readings upstream and downstream from stationary resistance element installed in pneumotachometer. The second pressure readings are taken with the second resistance element positioned as required. Series of indices is processed for calculation of characteristic curves of consumption for subject's respiratory tracts. The first and second time constants are calculated by consumption curves and are used for calculation of values of lung elasticity and resistance of respiratory tracts. Method is realized with the aid of pneumotachometric device with the first stationary and the second moving resistance elements provided with perforation and positioned in pipeline communicating with the first and second windows. Lung function checking device has pneumotachometric device communicating with pair of pressure sensors through windows made in body. Pressure sensors are connected to processor for carrying out necessary calculations of time constants and values of lung elasticity and resistance of respiratory tracts.
