FIELD: optical instruments. SUBSTANCE: method involves rounding lens by ring diamond instrument, which axis is located in axial section of lens in perpendicular to its rotation axis and runs through center of sphere drawn about lens to be processed; and shaping second working surface of lens and rounding it using same tool and same liquid simultaneously or in sequence. EFFECT: significantly decreased wearing of diamond instrument for rounding, controlled process of optical lenses treatment, increased quality of processed lens edge, improved assembling of manufactured lenses into optical units, simplified design of tool for rounding lenses, increased speed of manufacturing. 4 cl, 4 dwg, 1 ex
