FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: outer bond olefins contained in hydrocarbon charge are isomerized to outer bond olefins having greater substitution degree in the presence of palladium-and hydrogen-based catalyst at 20-300 C, 1-50 bar, hourly volumetric rate of 50-600 h h-1 and at molar rate of hydrogen to olefins of 0.01-1. Before being charged into isomerization reactor, catalyst is treated with at least one sulfur-containing compound diluted with solvent so that catalyst comprises 0.05-10 wt % sulfur. Additive of sulfur-containing compounds suppresses and enhances isomerizing catalyst activity. EFFECT: more efficient isomerization process. 14 cl, 6 ex, 1 tbl
