FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, blast furnace process; may be used in smelting in blast furnaces of pig irons with high content of silicon. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging into blast furnace of coke, iron ore materials, flux and silicon-containing additives used in the form of lumpy schungite sizing not more 100 mm. Silicon content in pig iron is regulated by varying the quality of schungite charged into furnace and which in the course of charging is mixed with iron ore materials. This mixture is charged into furnace top circular zone limited by radii equalling 0.98-0.4 top furnace radius. To increase content of silicon in pig iron by 1%, the quality of charged schungite is increased, and to reduce silicon content in pig iron by 1% is reduced by 40-50 kg/t of pig iron. EFFECT: reduced consumption of coke and higher quality of smelted pig iron. 2 cl
