FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; particularly, blast-furnace production; applicable in pig-iron smelting in blast furnaces. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging of coke and iron ore material, hot blasting and blowing of fuel additives, and charging of solid carbon-containing additive to definite circular zone of furnace top. Said solid carbon-containing additive is used in form of lumpy shungite with carbon content amounting to 20- 35%. Lumpy shungite is mixed in charging together with coke and supplied to furnace top circular zone located within limits restricted by radii of 0.1 and 0.95 of furnace top. Amount of charged shungite is maintained within 0.5-15% of total weight of carbon charged into furnace in form of coke and fuel additive blown into tuyeres. Preferable consumption of shungite is within 3-7% of total weight of carbon. EFFECT: higher productivity of furnaces, improved quality of pig iron. 2 cl, 3 ex
