FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, particularly, blast-furnace process; applicable in smelting in blast furnaces of foundry pig irons or ferroalloys. SUBSTANCE: essence of invention consists in that in smelting of high-silicon pig irons with use in charge of natural silica and carbon-containing additive in the form of schungite. Content of carbon schungite and content of silicon in pig iron are controlled by varying quantity of loaded schungite proportional to required variation of silicon content in pig iron according to relationship given in the invention description. In so doing, basicity of iron ore material loaded into furnace is changed by value equalling 0.002-0.004 of required variation of quantity of charged schungite loaded into furnace. EFFECT: provided smelting of various grades of high-silicon pig iron, maintained stabled composition of pig iron of the same grade with minimal consumption and maximum capacity of furnace. 2 ex
