FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method of steel making in submerged-resistor induction furnace includes heating of iron-containing burden and carbon-containing material, direct reduction and melting of iron-containing burden. Temperature of liquid product is maintained at the level exceeding the temperature of its liquids, preferably, by 50-100 C by regulating heat quantity supplied to furnace and/or rate of burden charging into furnace during reduction and melting processes. Liquid steel is discharged from furnace, preferably, at temperatures in the range from 1580 to 1620 with content of carbon about 0.1%. Method allows to exclude equipment for production of liquid pig iron due to direct reduction of iron-containing burden into steel in submerged-resistor induction furnace from burden containing reduced quantity of phosphorus to decrease flux consumption and to prolong service life of refractory lining. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 21 cl, 4 dwg
