FIELD: medicine, pharmacy. SUBSTANCE: water-soluble silver-containing bactericidal composition has highly-dispersed metallic silver and poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone. Composition is prepared by interaction of 2-5% ethyl alcohol an aqueous solution with silver nitrate an aqueous solution in the presence of poly-N-vinylpyrrolidone at 65-75 C in dark in inert atmosphere. The end product is highly-dispersed metallic silver stabilized by polymer. Then 0.05-10.0% an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide is added to an aqueous solution of silver dispersion at metal content 0.01-1.0 wt.-% and reaction is carried out up to complete bleaching a reaction mass. Composition is isolated after drying. Composition is colorless and exhibits high aggregate stability and high antibacterial activity. Composition is used to enhance an effectiveness of therapy in treatment of suppurative-septic wound complications and burns.
