FIELD: agriculture, in particular, controlling of chemical applying processes by means of optical electronic systems. SUBSTANCE: method involves mounting video camera on sprayer prior to applying chemicals; dividing viewing angle ϕ of video camera in horizontal plane into sectors, with number N of sectors being equal to that of sprayers and viewing angle of each sector embracing chemical distribution width h of one sprayer; pulling sprayer by tractor. During advancement of tractor, color signal indicative of given kind of weed or pest is generated and delivered from video camera to receiver and further to processor, where it is divided into color components supplied to logical unit, where required color gamma is established by color setter. Upon delivery of video signal coinciding with that set by color setter, logical unit generates command for opening of respective sprayer. EFFECT: reduced consumption of chemicals, wider operational capabilities and increased ecology control by decreased contamination of environment. 2 cl, 2 dwg
