Process measuring range to source of noise making provides for reception of mixture of noise making and noise, measurement of spectrum of received mixture, measurement of spectrum of received noise, preliminary formation of predicted spectra of signal of noise making at reception point, computation of reference spectrum by each formed predicted spectrum with allowance for result of measurement of spectrum of received noise, computation of values of functional correlation between measured spectrum of mixture and each reference spectrum and selection of hypothetical value of range by way of determination of number of that signal which value of functional correlation with measured energy spectrum of received mixture is maximal.
