FIELD: nuclear power engineering. SUBSTANCE: method for refueling water-moderated reactor, such as that of type VVER-1000, incorporating fuel assemblies of two or more types which are distinguished by softness of neutron spectrum when they are located in core involves extraction of spent fuel assemblies, displacement of those remaining in core, and addition of new fuel assemblies; proportion of soft-spectrum fuel assemblies among safety system cells is greater than that of such fuel assemblies in reactor core and their ultimate proportion is unity. EFFECT: provision for charging core with fuel assemblies of different types at same or slightly reduced compensating ability of safety system absorbers. 3 tbl
