FIELD: nuclear power engineering; fuel elements designed for load cycling conditions. SUBSTANCE: channel has fuel assembly with fuel elements and neutron absorber; two neutron absorbers are fixed in position along channel axis their inner cavities being spaced apart through distance not longer than half the length of fuel elements; fuel assembly is free to move between two positions at which in one case one half of fuel elements occurs in upper absorber and in other case other half of fuel elements is positioned in lower absorber. Proposed channel makes it possible to conduct experimental cycling of fuel-element loading at constant reactivity of reactor and constant spatial distribution of neutron flux within this reactor.
