FIELD: metallurgical industry, more particularly cast iron compositions for manufacturing components for friction units and cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: cast iron comprises carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, nitrogen and iron, ratios of components being as follows (wt %): carbon 3.03-3.07; silicon, 0.47-0.50; manganese 0.29-0.32; phosphorus, 0.040-0.048; nitrogen 0.0039-0.0059; sulfur, 0.108-0.110; hydrogen, 0.00026-0.00052; and iron, the balance. After heat treatment, ultimate strength σb of cast iron is 41- 47 kg/sq.mm. EFFECT: higher wear resistance of cast iron. 1 ex, 1 tbl
