FIELD: fire-extinguishing techniques; may be used in fire extinguishing in nonhermetic rooms. SUBSTANCE: method includes supply of mixture of inert gas and water by pneumoacoustic procedure to zone of burning with gas-water ratio of 0.7-1.5. Water is sprayed at frequency of 16-21 kHz and sound pressure 160-170 dB. The system of fire extinguishing has fire detector connected to control panel, source of inert gas, vessel with water and pipelines with pressure regulator and stop valves, pneumoacoustic spraying device connected to source of inert gas and vessel with water. Introduced into system is delay circuit and valve for supply of inert gas to vessel with water. Offered also is pneumoacoustic spraying device having resonator, gas and water nozzles, rod installed with gap relative to gas nozzle. In this case the value of gap is δ = (0.03-0.055)λ, and resonator depth, h = (3.0-5.0)δ, where λ is wave length of acoustic radiation at working frequency for given gas.
