FIELD: production of metals and alloys by reduction of oxides from ores and concentrates. SUBSTANCE: method includes formation of electric furnace reaction volume based on halides of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals, setting up of ore-thermal melting conditions in reaction volume, dissolving of oxides in melt, reduction of oxides from solution with solid carbon and separation of produced metal from dissolving melt. Oxides are reduced at temperature of 950-1500 C. Additional reducing agent is used in the form of carbon lining serving as electrode. In this case, partial pressure of carbon monoxide above melt is maintained below equilibrium for reducing monoxide. EFFECT: production of metals and alloys by reduction with solid carbon of metal oxides at temperatures considerably lower than that of chemical equilibrium of reduction reaction. 1 tbl
