FIELD: production of silicon from its oxide in the form of silicon alloy with iron by reduction with solid carbon of oxides of silicon and iron from loose mixture with low content of silica at temperatures slightly exceeding silicon melting temperature. SUBSTANCE: method consists in formation of reaction space of furnace based on sodium fluoride; formation of ore melting conditions in reaction space; charging into reaction space of mixture containing loose oxides of silicon, iron and silica, and carbon reducing agent; smelting of mixture at temperature of 1450-1550 C; removal of melt products from reaction space.
