FIELD: aluminium production processes. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of forming reaction volume of melt on base of metal fluorides; applying electric current to melt; loading burden containing aluminium oxide; reducing aluminium and removing it out of reaction volume. Alternating electric current is applied to melt. Aluminium is reduced at temperature 1000-1100 C while using carbon of graphite electrodes as reducing agent. Cryolite is used as metal fluorides. Such method is realized without formation of carbides and oxycarbides of aluminium and without use of direct electric current. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 1 ex
